Lavender’s Beneficial Properties In Skin Care
Lavender (Lavandula is its scientific name) has calming properties that make you feel relaxed, calm, and will even help you sleep better. This wonderful purple flower has many uses and has been used for centuries for its healing and cleansing properties. As a matter of fact, the ancient Egyptians used lavender in the mummification process and the Romans put it in their baths to purify. Butterflies are even attracted to lavender, it seems even they know lavender has many benefits.
Today, it seems like almost everyone has at least one product that’s been infused with lavender. It has become one of the most popular oils in skin care products and for good reason. Lavender oil is known for its uses in aromatherapy or as a fragrance. Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and can soothe minor burns and insect bites (it can even repel those pesky critters). It’s scent is a wonderful blend of fresh, floral, calm, and clean. Lavender helps to restore your skin complexion, reduce acne, and slow the aging process with its powerful antioxidants.
Where Can I Find This Goodness?
Now that we know some of the amazing benefits of lavender, you may be wondering where you can find this goodness. While we carry numerous products that contain this super ingredient, these are some of my personal favorites.
Field Better Soon Chunk Bar (big hunk of naturally-based soap)
This big bar will cleanse and calm with the goodness of lavender and oatmeal. It helps to soothe dry skin and put frazzled nerves at ease with the relaxing fragrance of lavender essential oil, while its moisturizing palm fruit oil base foams up into a creamy lather that won’t strip your skin.
Fill that bathtub up to relax and unwind with the calming aromatics of lavender essential oil and soothing magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts). Simply scoop a little (or a lot!) into your bath or toss onto the floor of a steamy shower. It will have you feeling relaxed in no time.
Good Hydrations Lavender In Shower Lotion
Warm water helps open pores, which allows Good Hydrations lotion to work its magic. It is packed with coconut, macadamia, and argan oils, plus shea and cupuaçu butter to deliver intense moisture to your skin without icky petroleum-derived lubricants. This soothing lotion also features lavender essential oil and calming oats. It works best when used in the shower or immediately after. Yes, I said IN the shower. It is formulated to lock in moisture on your wet skin. Awesome!
One of my favorite products is the skin sticks, they are pampering on the go! Sleepy Sleep is a gentle shea butter stick that is blended with lavender essential oil to promote a sense of relaxation and helping you unwind. Sleepy Sleep can also be used as a cleansing and toning stick to promote a clearer looking complexion. Smooth over forehead or any other pulse points to melt away stress and soothe skin as needed. This one is a game changer if you have kids!
Is Lavender Good For Your Skin?
You have probably figured out by now that lavender is like a super oil and is good for your skin. I mean any oil that can help put my kids to sleep is a wonder oil in itself! The many benefits of lavender such as helping you to relax, reduce your stress or anxiety levels, help to clear acne, repel bugs, or help heal minor burns and bug bites is a game changer in my book.
